Eid gifting is a brand moment, and premium dates are proof

Eid al-Fitr 2026 falls around 20 March. Here is why gift-worthy dates sell at Eid, with lessons from our work for Januba.

An open Januba box of assorted premium dates on a table set for Eid guests

Eid marketing works best when a brand gives people something they are proud to hand over at the door. Premium dates show this better than almost any product: they are eaten every evening of Ramadan, then boxed, ribboned and carried to relatives when Eid al-Fitr begins. For 2026, the UAE confirmed Eid al-Fitr for Friday 20 March, with Saudi Arabia marking the same day, so the last week of Ramadan is when gifting brands win or lose.

We are iklipse, a creative and AI production agency working across the GCC and Egypt. We have made social content, ads and animation for the premium date brand Januba, and the gifting season is where that work earns its keep.

Dates move from the iftar table to the gift table in a single night.

Across the Muslim world, many people break the fast with a date, following the Prophet's practice. That puts dates on almost every iftar table for a month. Then the moon is sighted, Ramadan ends and the same fruit turns into a present.

That switch is the whole marketing opportunity. A box of dates at Eid says you thought about the host, it fits any budget, and nobody ever says "oh, we already have dates". The question for a brand is simple: when someone stands in a shop or scrolls a delivery app on the 28th night of Ramadan, is your box the one that looks right in their hands?

The date trade is big, and buyers can choose.

Saudi Arabia alone produced more than 1.9 million tonnes of dates in 2024, according to GASTAT data reported by Saudi media, and its date exports reached about SAR 1.695 billion, up 15.9% on the year before, with dates going to 133 countries.

So there is no shortage of dates. The shopper is spoilt for choice, which means the difference between a good date and a gift-worthy date is mostly in how it looks, how it is named and how it is shown. Medjool and Sukkari mean something to people who know dates. The box, the photography and the story do the work for everyone else.

Here is what we did for Januba.

Januba is a premium date brand with a wide range, including Medjool, Sukkari and flavoured assortments. We handled its social media, ad campaigns and original photo and video content made to match the brand's standards. We also made 2D animation videos to tell its stories across digital platforms. Its online presence grew stronger and its customers became more engaged. You can see the photography and posts on the Januba case page.

A few choices from that work carry over to any Eid gifting brand.

Shoot the sharing, and the product will look after itself.

Some of the strongest Januba images show dates being shared: a hand reaching into a box, a plate passed across a table. Eid is about visiting people. Pictures of people giving sell gifts better than a perfect pack shot alone.

Give the assortment a hero shot.

Assorted boxes are what people buy as gifts, because they look generous. We gave the assorted range its own clean, styled photography, so the box reads as a present at thumbnail size.

Use animation to explain what photos cannot.

Why is a Sukkari different from a Medjool? What goes into a flavoured date? Short 2D animation answers that kind of question in a few seconds, and it gives a gift buyer something to say when they hand the box over.

Show people where to order.

One of our Januba posts simply showed the ordering platforms. It sounds dull. In the last days of Ramadan, when people are busy and late, telling them exactly where to buy is the most useful post a brand can publish.

Plan Eid content backwards from the moon sighting.

Eid dates depend on the moon, so the exact day is only confirmed a day or two before. A gifting brand cannot wait for the announcement. Here is the rhythm we suggest.

  • Early Ramadan: keep the brand on the iftar table with everyday content about taste and quality.
  • Middle of Ramadan: start showing boxes, assortments and gift sizes, and push corporate gifting orders.
  • Last ten nights: move fully to gifting, with delivery cut-off dates and where to buy.
  • Eid morning: one warm greeting, and no hard sell.

AI production helps here. With our AI-Infused Production team we can build styled table scenes, seasonal backdrops and gift-box variations without a new shoot for each one, then hand the real product photography to our social media team to schedule. The product itself should always be photographed for real, so what arrives at the door looks like what was on screen. Gifting brands should start showing gift products in the middle of Ramadan and go all in during the last ten nights, when most gifts are bought.
